Come Run with Us!
EACH YEAR HUNDREDS AND THOUSANDS OF RUNNERS take on the challenge of training to run 21.1K. No two people have exactly the same schedule, goals, physique and training habits so no single plan can perfectly fit every runner.
Most plans include long runs to build endurance, tempo runs or speedwork to strengthen the legs and lungs, and rest days to recover from the hard work. But ability, experience, health, and time constraints all figure into what works best. Which is why adapting a plan for yourself is the most important factor. It’s got to be doable. If it isn’t fun, why do it?
We have included three of programs. There’s one for the beginner, intermediate and advanced runner (see related links, right). In the July issue, we take a close look at how you can tweak these programs to suit your goals and training capabilities.
THE BONUS? You’ll be in good company. On June 21, Runner’s World staffers will start training for the St. George Melbourne Half Marathon. Like you, we have diverse goals and challenges. So check out the programs, meet the team (check out what went on behind the scenes at our photo shoot, right)
