Elite athletes Kara Goucher, Carl Lewis, and Jenny Fletcher will team up with Live Earth in support of the Dow Earth Run for Water event on April 18, 2010.

The event will feature a series of 6 km run/walks (the average distance many women and children walk every day to get water), concerts and water education activities taking place in countries around the world.

Between the thousands of runners, walkers, celebrities and musicians involved, they hope to raise funds and create awareness of the water problems the world faces.

This will be the second Live Earth event, after the initial series of Live Earth concerts were held around the globe in 2007.

A Water Village will be set up by Live Earth and details of the musical acts to play there will be released in the following months.

In association with Live Earth, the Melbourne Run for Water will encourage people to address the water crisis in Victoria and give money to support water projects.

All donations raised by the Dow Live Earth Run for Water will fund sustainable water programmes and support a global network of NGO partners.

The International Riverfoundation is a leading advocate for the protection and restoration of the world’s rivers and has been selected as the NGO in Australia.
