Stroke victim Dan Englund will run 1000km from Emerald, Qld, to Brisbane to raise funds and awareness.

Having suffered a stroke that paralysed his left side on 16 May 2011, 38-year-old Dan Englund and his family spent five weeks in Brisbane undergoing intensive physiotherapy and a heart operation to fix the hole that caused the stroke.

While in hospital, Englund determined to give something back to the hospital staff who encouraged him through his recovery – the result is an epic 1000km run that Englund embarks on in the coming weeks.
