Sidestep "hitting the wall" with a simple banana and sports drink snack

When you “hit the wall”, your muscles aren’t alone in needing more fuel. Your brain runs on glycogen, too, and when it’s not getting its fill, it tells you to slow down or stop. You may also feel cranky or despondent.

To prevent this – or to remedy it – consume about 50 grams of carbohydrates (a large banana with a cup of sports drink). You’ll start to feel better in 10 to 15 minutes.
